My name is Jim Cosgrave and my interest in family history began as a teenager, when an elderly cousin of my mother visited us, bringing much detail of my maternal grandmother’s family in Ireland. I was immediately hooked, and wanted to learn more about all of my ancestral lines. When I married, I began researching my wife’s family, and when my children married, I included their spouses’ families in my research.
I do not profess to be an expert, but I do have many years of experience, working with original records, microfilm records, electronic records and online sources, and I never tire of researching.
Autosomal DNA testing has been a huge help to family historians, by confirming connections that were previously identified through research in historical records, supporting or refuting research hunches, and opening up entirely new research possibilities.
I hope that the information contained in this website is helpful to your family history research and increases your understanding of the black art of utilizing DNA testing by family historians.
