Passed away at the Cowichan District Hospital on Wednesday October 10, 2007. Born on August 26, 1927 at Ganges, Salt Spring Island. Predeceased by his son Bob (2006), sister Irene (2003) and brother in law Phil Decosta (2006). Lovingly remembered by his family; wife Betty; children, Fred, Susan (Larry) Smith, Wendi (Mike) Lowery, Glen (Trish), and Pearl Griffith; grandchildren , Wesley, Carrie, Cory, Ashley, Lisa (Aaron), Nikki, Branden, Amanda and Easton; great-granddaughter Destiny Arianna; sister Jean and brother George (Florence); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

"LAUNDRY, Betty Mae October 8, 1925 - December 3, 2017 It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Betty, (sister, mother, aunt, grandma, and great grandma). Betty donned her wings and peacefully took flight just before dawn on December 3, 2017. Our hearts are breaking with the loss of a strong loving woman. Betty will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered for her cheeky sense of humour. She is predeceased by her husband Louis, sons Bob, Fred, parents Nell and Frank Sim, sisters Joyce, Fran and brother Bill. She leaves behind sister Joan, daughters Susan (Larry), Wendi, and Pearl, son Glen (Trish), eight grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. Betty's family would like to thank the staff at Ross Place, and especially her daily caregiver Wendy for their kindness and caring over the past 15 years. A Memorial Service will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. A reception will follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Frannie went to sleep for the last time on October 12th, 2012 after a lengthy struggle with dementia. She was predeceased by her husband, Red; parents Nell and Frank Sim, brother Bill and sister Joyce. Frannie leaves her sisters Betty Laundry and Joan McKintyto remember her humour, her smile and her love of dogs, birds and flowers. She will also be mourned by her sister in law Helen and her dear friends the Dancereau family. A special thanks to Marilyn Brown who faithfully took her for outings and made her laugh.

"SIM, William Frank (Bill) February 18, 1929 February 10, 2010 Suddenly but peacefully, after a lengthly illness. Predeceased by his parents and sister Joyce. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Helen; children Lisa (Bob), Rhonda (Bruce), Susan (George), Kelly (Stan), Tim (Tania), seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters Joan, Betty and Fran; nieces, nephews and many friends. Bill was a long standing member of the Britannia Legion Branch #7. Bill and his father ran their own appliance repair business (Island Washer) for many years and from there worked for Derek's Appliance (Inglis) until he retired at 75. Bill enjoyed an active life including golf, curling and especially his stock cars as a member of the Fat 5" at Western Speedway. Bill loved fishing, camping and travelling in their motorhome. Thank you to the staff at Beckley Farm Lodge for their wonderful care and support. Special thanks to Dr. Merelli (Irene) and Dr. Prowse. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Thursday Feb 18th at the Britannia Legion, 780 Summit at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Alzheimer Society. 578702."
