"Pte. G.A. McIntosh Killed
He had a brother killed last year at Langemarck.
On Thursday Mrs. G.A. McIntosh received a letter from her husband's chum, Pte. S. Robinson, imparting the sad news that her husband, Pte. Geo. Alexander McIntosh, had been killed during a severe engagement with the enemy. On Friday this report was verified by an official telegram, which stated that her husband had been killed on the 3rd of June, 1916.
Pte. McIntosh enlisted on the 3rd of August, 1915, with the 92nd Highlanders, and on arrival in England was transferred to a battalion at the front. Before going to the front he was employed by the Toronto Salt Works as a driver.
Pte. McIntosh came to Canada from Banffshire, Scotland, nine years ago, and had a brother, Pte. James McIntosh, who was wounded at the Battle of Langemarck, and subsequently died on the 24th of April.
He leaves a widow and one little girl, in addition to a brother, Pte. Chas. McIntosh, who is with the Black Watch in Egypt; a sister, Mrs. F. Simms of Saskatoon; a sister, Miss J. McIntosh, of this city; and a sister in Winnipeg. He leaves a mother, two other sisters and two other brothers in Banffshire, Scotland."4Commonwealth War Graves Commission website (URL: www.cwgc.org).
