"KARBONIK, Nicholas - It is with sorrow-filled hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dynamic, loving father, husband, brother, grandfather, uncle, great- grandfather and great-uncle Nicholas (Nick) Karbonik on August 17, 2018, at the age of 82 years. Nick was born on February 10, 1936 in Calmar, Alberta, to Nicholas and Mary (Yawney) Karbonik. Nick was predeceased by his first wife of 25 years, Marion; his parents; brothers John, Steve, Bill, Fred, Eugene; sisters Anne, Stella, Evelyn, Kay, Leona; and a brother and sister in infancy. Nick is survived by his loving family; his wife of 26 years, Fredda; daughter Charlene (Brian), grandchildren Connor, Aidan, Laurissa; daughter Karen (Lynne); son Murray (Janet); Fredda's family: daughter Marlene (Jim), granddaughter Heather (Norm), great-grandchildren Nolan and Kinley; grandson Will (Daryl); Fredda's son Art and grandson Alex (Justine); Fredda's son Bob (Beth) and grandchildren Byron, Ashley and Claire. He is also survived by brother Richard (Ann), sisters; Helen, Mary and Nadia, sisters-in-law Loretta and Janet and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Nick retired from Gulf Oil Canada in 1986 after long term service in the accounting and auditing departments. He was an active member of the Probus Club of Nanaimo, a former member of the Calgary Elks Lodge and Golf Club and the Nanaimo Golf Club. He was extremely dedicated to his family and friends and passionate about everything he did, be it golf, gardening, photography, fishing, cooking, travel, or card games. At Nick's request a private family service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2018. Donations in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada or other charity of your choice."

"MRS. MARY KARABONIK
ON December 7, Mrs. Mary Karabonik, beloved wife of Mr. Nick Karabonik of Calmar, passed away in Edmonton at the age of 47 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by seven sons, John, Steve, William, Fred, Nick, Richard, Eugebe, all at home; also eight daughters, Mrs. Harvey Johnson of Red Deer, Mrs. Harold Smith, Misses Evelyn, Catherine of Edmonton, Leona, Helen, Mary, Nadie at home, three grandchildren. Also two brothers, Dmytro Yowney of Colinton, John Yowney of Calgary and two sisters Mrs. M. Faraschuk of Thorsby, Mrs. M. Souchodolski of Calmar. A prayer service will be held at the family residence on Sunday, December 9, at 4:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Monday, December 10, at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity church, Leduc, and interment will take place in the local Church Cemetery."

"Obituaries (04/18/03)KARABONIK, Stephen "Steve" On April 14, 2003 Stephen "Steve" Karabonik of Leduc Extendicare, formerly of Calmar, passed away at the age of 80 years. Steve is survived by three brothers, Nick (Fredda) of Nanaimo, B.C., Eugene (Janet) of Edmonton and Richard (Ann) of Calgary; six sisters, Stella McAbee of Sardis, B.C., Evelyn Acampora of Edmonton, Leona Christie of Phoenix, Arizona, Helen (Joe) Harrish of Edmonton, Mary (Allen) Manchak of Calmar, and Nadia (Richard) Schneider of Naniamo, B.C.; sisters-in-law, Loretta Karbonik of Lethbridge, Pat Karabonik of Leduc; and also by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Mary Karabonik; three brothers, John, Bill and Fred; two sisters, Anne Smith and Katherine Sonnenberg; three brothers-in-law, Harold Smith, Robert Christie and Sal Acampora; one sister-in-law, Marion Karbonik; and one brother and one sister in infancy. Prayers will be held on Monday, April 21, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at the Calmar Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church. Divine Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at the Leduc Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church (from Highway #19, 1 1/2 miles south on Range Road 260) with Basilian Fathers, OSBM as Celebrants. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. If friends and relatives so desire, donations may be made to the Leduc or Calmar Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church or to the charity of one's choice.
