"GYTE, Dorothy Eleanor
Born on January 24, 1924 in Colinton, AB, Dorothy E. Gyte passed away on September 6, 2013 in the Wetaskiwin Hospital.
Dorothy worked many jobs in her lifetime but the most memorable was her decision at 48 years to attend NAIT to become a Dietary Technician, graduating with honours. Her and her husband, Joseph, moved to Rossland, BC in 1974 where she was employed at the Mater Misercordiae Hospital. In 1993 she moved back to Alberta and lived in Westlock until 2007 when she moved to Wetaskiwin to be closer to her children. She was a proud member of the Ladies' Auxillary to the RCL for 67 years and the United Church for over 60 years. Having been a leader of the Colinton 4H club for 14 years she was known to be a fine seamstress. She enjoyed doing crafts, playing games and dancing.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1992, her parents Harold and O'Linda (Berg) Wiltse in 1980 and 1995, her sister Mona (Wiltse) Oakes in 2011, three brothers in law and two sisters in law. She is survived by one son Harold (Carole) Gyte of Edmonton, one daughter Rosella (Joffre) Plaquin of Millet, four grandchildren; Shane (Shelley) Plaquin of Cochrane, Korin (Lee) Konidas of Edmonton, Gavin (Alison) Gyte and Kathleen (Rick) Salt of Leduc as well as six great grandchildren, one brother Harold (Helen) Wiltse, many relatives and friends.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will take place on September 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Howard & McBride Westlawn Funeral Chapel, 16310 Stony Plain Road, followed by interment in Westlawn Memorial Gardens.
