The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 9th at 1:30 p.m. from the Chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home conducted by The Rev. Fred Davies (Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be appreciated in lieu of flowers). Surviving are: his wife Elsie; 1 son Gerald, Mississauga, Ontario; 1 daughter Mrs. Mervin Smith (Gladys), Saskatoon; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; also 1 sister Mrs. Alice Hancock, North Hampton, England. Mr. Spriggs was born in High Wycomb Bucks, England. Coming to Canada in 1911 he settled at Duck Lake, Sask. A veteran of the First World War he served overseas with the 5th C.M.R.'s Canadian Army from 1914 to 1918. Returning to Saskatoon following the war Mr. Spriggs joined the Canadian Postal Service and served in the Saskaton Post Office for over 39 years prior to his retirement in 1958. Mr. Spriggs was a life member of Lodge Progress No. 92 A.F. & A.M. "SMITH - The death of Mervin Eldean Smith, age 59 years, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, beloved husband of Gladys occurred at his residence on Sunday, May 26th, 1991. Surviving are his loving wife, Gladys; two sons, Richard of Chelmsford, England and Stephen of Saskatoon; three sisters, Rose (Ken) Tilk of Vernon, B.C., Hazel (Sam) Stevenson of Edmonton, Alta., and Faye (Don) Geddes of Chatham, Ontario; five brothers, Gordon (Hazel) of Flin Flon, Man., J.E. Ted (Dorothy) of Saskatoon, James (Rose) of Eldersley, Kenneth (Frances) of Bounty and Harvey (Myrtle) of Saskatoon; his mother in law - Elsie Spriggs; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jemima and J. Edward Smith; two sisters, Helen and Alice (Jim) Walker; and two brothers, Tullis and William (Audrey). Mervin was born on November 23rd, 1931 at Ardath, Saskatchewan. In 1956 Mervin moved to Saskatoon where he began working at the City of Saskatoon Water Treatment Plant and then in the Electrical Department a position he held for thirty-three years. He married Gladys Spriggs on June 27th, 1959 at Saskatoon. he and Gladys continued to live in Saskatoon until his passing on Sunday. Mervin was active in the Hudson Bay Park Community and was very active with his sons in various hockey and fastball teams. Merv will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in memory of Mervin be made to the Mayfair United Church Building Fund, 902 33rd Street West, Saskatoon or to the Canadian Cancer Fund, 438 2nd Avenue North, Saskatoon, Sask. "Death of F.W. Sim
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon for the late FW Sim who passed away on Thursday after a long illness. Rev. DJ Firth conducted the services which were held in the Brown & Johnson Chapel and the pallbearers were Mayor HW Halladay, AM Martin, RJ Munro, Gordon Payne, AR Little, and Chas. Watt. Fred Smith sang a solo. The floral tributes included remembrances from the Canadian Legion, 13th Field Auxillary, LOL 1625 and Garden City Lodge LOBA.
Frederick William Sim was born in Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, in 1875. He attended schools there and as a young man practiced law with his father in Cullen. He was married in Scotland and in 1909 he brought his family out to Canada, spending two years in Toronto. In 1911 they moved to Saskatoon where they remained 18 years while Mr. Sim was employed with the Saskatchewan Provincial Police . He enlisted at Saskatoon with the 96th Highlanders in the First Great War, but illness prevented him from going overseas with his unit, and he served in Canada. Prior to coming out to Canada he held a commission in the Territorials in Scotland. In 1929 the family moved to Red Deer where Mr. Sim was with the City police force for some years. He leaves two daughters, Mrs EW Hilling and Miss Jean Sim, both of Red Deer, and four sons, FW at Laverna, Sask., CA at Brandon, Man., Mack and Norman at Red Deer, in addition to Mrs. Sim, one brother and one sister in Scotland also survive."3Civil Registration, Marriage - Scotland, Register of Marriages; Aberdeen; 1908; 229.

Sim of Ottawa; two daughters, Mrs. E.W. (Jessie) Hilling of Edmonton, and Mrs Garth (Jean) Greenaway of Bagotville, Quebec; three sisters, Mrs Nellie Mair of Scotland, Mrs. Margarett Hartley of Vancouver, B.C., Mrs. Janet Armstrong of Sudbury, Ontario; a brother Robert McIntosh of Scotland; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Isabella Moyer Sim of the Centennial Courts, who died in Edmonton Wednesday at the age of 86, will be held Friday at Knox Presbyterian Church. Rev. Douglas O. Fry will officiate at the 2 p.m. service.
Mrs. Sim had been a Red Deer resident since 1929 and was active in community activities in Central Alberta for the past 42 years. She died at the University Hospital.
She was born at Buchie, Banffshire, Scotland on May 28, 1884. She became a member of the Ladies Orange Benevolent Association (LOBA) in Red Deer in 1930. Over the years, Mrs. Sim was a member of the Garden City Lodge and past mistress of that lodge; an honorary member of the provincial Grand Lodge of the LOBA; a charter member of the Crystal Chapter No. 39 of the Loyal Orange Association and a member of the Past Mistress' Club of the LOBA. As well, she was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, its Ladies Aid and a member of the Friendship Club.
She was predeceased by her husband Frederick in 1946. At one time, he was a member of the the city police force. She is survived by four sons, Fred of Saskatoon; Charles of Regina; Mac of Edmonton; and Pat of Ottawa; two daughters, Mrs. E.W.
