October 8, 1944-November 1, 2011 Thomas Allen Benson , 67 passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at a local hospital. A private service will be held at a later date. He leaves to cherish his memory, Janet(Pye) Moore, longtime companion and best friend; son, Timothy Benson and his wife Tiffany of Lafayette; daughter, Tara Benson of Australia and numerous nieces and nephews; granddaughter, Morgan whom he raised as his own grandchild and was the love of his life; the Hebert family who loved him as a brother, and John Scott Moore who he raised his own son. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya Benson of New Zealand; his mother, Edna Benson Lopez; his step-father, John Lopez; his father, Nelson Benson; his brothers, Charles, David and Ronnie; two sisters, Louise and Jean; Dawn Michelle Moore whom he considered as a daughter . He was a well known singer in the Acadiana area with the Tom Benson Trio. He was a very special man and will be dearly missed. Kinchen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."
