"ADVISER TO THREE MONARCHS
DEATH OF THE KING'S SOLICITOR
Sir Henry White, private solicitor to the Royal Family, who had heen ill for about six months, died recently, after undergoing an operation at a nursing home at Beckenham, Kent. He. was born in June, 1849, and was therefore in his seventy-third year. Son of the late Mr Henry White, and nephew of the late Sir Arnold William White, he lived from the time he was a boy of seven with the latter as his adopted son, till his death in 1893 I (states the "Westminster Gazette" in a biographical notice). Sir Henry had practised as a solicitor for nearly half a century, and since 1894 had heen associated with the affairs of the Sovereign and other members of the Royal Family. Appointed as adviser to Queen Victoria in this capacity, he performed the responsible duties of an exacting task entirely to Her Majesty's satisfaction. Sir Henry was one of the few men who knew the amount of the private fortune of Queen Victoria —a secret which the public were never permitted to share, On the death of Queen Victoria he acted as King Edward's family solicitor, and was continued in the same office by King George. His death will he an intimate, personal loss to the King and many members of the Royal Family, to whom he has for long been a friend and adviser."

"Sir Henry White, private solicitor to the Royal Family, died recently at the age of 73. His association with the affairs of the Royal Family dated back to 1894, when, in suceession to Sir Arnold White, he was appointed private solicitor to Queen Victoria. On Her Majesty's death he attended to King Edward's affairs, and since then has acted for the present King and other members of the Royal Family. The public naturally knew little either of the appointment or of its holder, and the quiet house at 14 Great Marlborough street, without even the usual lawyers brass plate, gave little hint of the intensely interesting private documents contained in the deed boxes within. As private solicitor, Sir Henry White drew up the wills of King Edward and King George, and also that of the Prince of Wales before the latter went on active service. Sir Henry White's services were recognised by the bestowal of a knighthood in 1897 and the c.V.O. in 1907."
