Pre-deceased by brothers Guelph, Ward and Morley and by sisters Gladys Webb, Hazel Richardson, Marjorie Wright, and Ethel Robinson. Friends may call at Steckley Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St. Barrie after 7 p.m. Monday. Funeral service in the Chapel on Wednesday June 27th at 1:30 p.m. with interment at Barrie Union Cemetery. "Surrounded by his family, Neil passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Bob Rumball Long Term Care in Barrie in his 92nd year. Born in Hamilton, Ontario to the late Grant and Ina Mayor. Neil leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Joan Mayor (nee Sparham). Loving father of Grant Mayor (Pam), Darla McIntosh (Jim) and Desta Ortiz (Daren). Adored grandfather of Erin, Nicolai and Sergey. Dear brother of Byng Mayor (d. Marg). Neil will be dearly missed by his extended family members and many friends. Neil obtained a business degree at the University of Toronto, later applying this knowledge to co-owning the Bayshore Motel in Barrie for many years. Neil and Joan enjoyed many winters in Lakeland Florida allowing Neil to play competitive shuffleboard. When not listening to big band music, Neil was an avid pilot enjoying many flights in his Cessna. In keeping with Neil’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration will take place at ADAMS FUNERAL HOME 445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Hospice Simcoe, Barrie.
